GQSP Vietnam, funded by Switzerland through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), has been working with partners to build a reliable testing services to boost export of mangoes in Mekong Delta. Two testing labs have selected as model to receive intense training to increase accuracy. The most key pesticide residue laboratory managers and their analysts now have an enhanced appreciation of modern approaches to internal quality control, implementing principles and practice of sampling, interpretation of pesticide residue analytical results, following complete set of standards of European Plant Protection Organisation.

Under GQSP Vietnam’s advocacy effort and provided capacity building, the Vietnam Fruit Association (VinaFruit) has successfully established Vietnam Mango Association to address lack of mutual voice of public and private mango value chain actors, and address difficulties in sharing feasible solutions and applying industry-wide standards to improve quality.

A successful pilot demonstration supported by the Vietnam Global Quality and Standards Program (GQSP) using the SOPs approach has opened up new Australian market opportunities for manufacturers and mango export in Vietnam. After being transported by sea, mangoes are taken to wholesale markets and directly to retail stores.
